September Tutor Training

No experience necessary to become a volunteer tutor.
Once trained, volunteer tutors work with assigned students to teach an adult literacy class: Basic Literacy, English as a Second Language (ESL), Basic Computer Skills, US Citizenship preparation, or GED preparation. Once trained and certified by the Literacy Council, all tutors maintain regular contact with the Program Director and report back with progress, successes, and challenges.

Training location: Sugar Land Learning Center located at 12530 Emily Court.

Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season.

#GivingTuesday has become a movement that celebrates and supports giving and philanthropy with events throughout the year and a growing catalog of resources.

Literacy Council students and volunteer tutors have raised more than $3,500 for Literacy during the 2017 and 2018 Giving Tuesday campaigns.
