  1. Will you offer a Fall class (October - December, 2017)?: Yes! The specific dates and type of class have not yet been determined. Please fill out the form, available, on this page, to stay up-to-date with information, as it becomes available. When the Fall class is planned, you will receive an email notification. 
  2. What types of classes are available?: Based on interest, the Literacy Council hosts either a General Office Support Specialist class or a Medical Business Office Professional class. One program is put on each semester. If you are not interested in the type of class being held at a particular time, check back soon or give us a call. We're happy to help you locate other providers in the area who might be running your desired program. 
  3. How much does class cost?: Typically, the registration fee will be $100, paid before class begins. This will cover all tests, books, and materials for your class. We also require students to submit an online background check for $21.

Medical Business Office Professional

What does this class offer?
Medical Business Office Professionals work in the business office of a healthcare facility: physician's offices, hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, and other healthcare settings. If you enjoy working with people, have good organizational skills, and are interested in the medical field, this career is for you!

Students who successfully complete this course will earn the Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) certificate, recognized across the country by the National Health Association. 

In this course, you will learn:
Medical Terminology
Medical Administrative Support
Medical Billing
Electronic Medical Record Fundamentals

Course Fee:
$100, paid to the Literacy Council upon registration
$21 online background check fee

Requirements:
Have basic keyboarding & computer skills
Pass a basic skills entrance test (reading, writing, math)
Pass an online background check
Maintain attendance throughout course (3 allowed absences)
U.S. High School Diploma, GED, or international credentials*

Certified Medical Business Office Professionals

General Office Support Specialist

What does this class offer?
General Office Support Specialists perform a wide variety of clerical support and administrative functions requiring computer proficiency and customer service skills. Often, administrative specialists provide communication, business, hospitality, and clerical support to public or private organizations.

Students who successfully complete this course will earn the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certificate, globally recognized by Microsoft. 


In this course, you will learn: 
Basic Keyboarding
Microsoft Office Suite, Professional
Introduction to General Office Skills


Course Fee:
$100, paid to the Literacy Council upon registration
$21 online background check fee

Requirements:
