Give the Gift of Literacy
Imagine going through life without reading the newspaper in the morning or a book to your child before bed time. Imagine that when you see a sign you don’t know if you should be quiet, put on a hard hat, beware of the dog, use exact change or wait until your name is called. Imagine looking at a prescription bottle and not knowing if you should take 2 pills every 2 to 4 hours or 2 pills every 24 hours, if you can drive while taking it or if it will put you to sleep. This is what life is like for the 66,000 Fort Bend County adults who are not functionally literate.
The Literacy Council of Fort Bend County depends on donations to continue to provide no cost literacy classes to adults committed to making their lives better through literacy. The gift of literacy enables an individual to achieve the skills necessary to become better parents, employees and citizens. All donations made to LCFBC are tax deductible.
