Six tutor trainings are held each year in the months of January, March, May, July, September, and November. The trainings are 12 hours in length, and are usually on Saturdays, week-nights, or a combination of both. There is no charge to attend the training. Included is instruction in language experience, phonics, word patterns, sight words, writing, assessment, and how to teach conversational English. 

Previous teaching experience is not required; neither is knowledge of another language, but the desire to help adult students enrich their lives, and patience are essential to becoming a successful literacy tutor.
